- Volunteer spots are still available to assist with the hospitality portion of the Parent Association event, honoring the wonderful teachers and staff of EHS that tirelessly educate, embrace and otherwise enhance our children's lives everyday.
- Volunteering just requires the ability to help with set-up, service and/or clean-up during the morning and/or early afternoon of 5/27, the day of the event. If you are interested, please email Liz Tyler at ept@tyler-law.com.
Body Talk Presentation - Wed 5/27- May be of special interest to 5th and 6th grade parents
- St. Matthew’s is hosting a presentation called “Body Talk: Kids, Self-Image, and the Media” with Jim Steyer, CEO of Common Sense Media, and Jennifer Siebel Newsom, writer/director/producer of Miss Representation and The Mask You Live In.

- The event will take place on Wednesday, May 27 at 6:30 pm in St. Matthew's Sprague Auditorium, off the main parking lot.
- A large crowd is expected and seating limited, so please click here to RSVP.
Used Book Sale- Books are still greatly needed for the Used Book Sale.
Please help by donating any books you may be thinking of discarding. All books may be dropped off at the library.
The Used Book Sale will take place June 2, 3, and 4.
Author Event - June 20- 'Drawn Together' unites storytellers from around the country to support LA School Libraries
- Jeff Kinney (Diary of a Wimpy Kid), Dav Pilkey (Captain Underpants), Lincoln Peirce (Big Nate), and Stephen Pastis (Timmy Failure and Pearls Before Swine) will be the featured guests
- During event, authors will discuss writing, drawing, and the creative process, and be available afterwards to meet
- Saturday, June 20 at Disney Concert Hall

Posted by Norma Ramirez-Lopez on 5/4/2015Here's what is coming up at Echo Horizon:Thursday 5/7 - BYOC with Martha and VickiWednesday 5/20 evening - Spring Open House (come with students to visit their classroom)Lost & Found- Please check the Lost & Found racks before all the items are donated. Stop by the multi-purpose room (upstairs) as well as the kitchen for abandoned hot lunch containers and water bottles. Many items to be claimed, including some prescription glasses!
Used Book Sale- The annual Spring Used Book Sale is coming up. It provides a terrific opportunity for students to jumpstart their summer reading...and parents to clean off shelves and donate books you no longer need! Donated books can be dropped off at the library.

Used Book Sale - We need your books!- SPRING USED BOOK SALE/ A CALL FOR BOOKS!
- This spring the library will hold a Used Book Sale. This has become an end-of-year
- library tradition most enthusiastically anticipated by our children. It also provides an
- opportunity for students to jumpstart their summer book selections! Families donate used
- books they no longer wish to keep. These donations are then organized by grade and
- interest level. Each class will have the opportunity to visit the library and make
- purchases. Books will be priced from $.50 to $1. Please help us by donating any books
- you may be thinking of discarding. All books may be dropped off at the library. The Used
- Book Sale will take place June 2, 3 and 4.

Pie 'N Burger on 4/29- On Wednesday, April 29th, lunch will be provided to the entire student body. We are trying a new vendor, Pie 'N Burger, and will be serving lunch like we do on In 'N Out Days. Please make sure to send your student with his/her hot lunch container. Any lunches that have been ordered with Fresh Lunches have been cancelled, and your account will be credited. Options will include grilled cheese.

Upcoming Weekend ActivitiesLA Times Festival Of Books takes place this weekend on the USC campus
Librarian Claudette Brown will be attending on Saturday, and will give away a FREE BOOK to any Echo Horizon student in Spirit Wear who spots her there, either by talking to her or snapping a photo and bringing to school.
Some of our kid's favorite authors will be there, including Dan Santat (Adventures of Beekle), Pseudonymous Bosch (Secret Series), Jon Sczieska (Stinky Cheese Man), Holly Goldberg Sloan (Counting By 7's), Jeff Kinney (Diary of a Wimpy Kid), and illustrators Oliver Jeffers & Jon Klassen.

Annual Culver City Harlotry Family Run/Walk 5K will take place next Sunday 4/26Spring Affaire - Art in the ParkJoin our school and promote healthy living, connect with our greater community, show school spirit and enjoy an all around good time. The Culver City Run/Walk is on Sunday, April 26 at West Los Angeles College. The course begins at 9 AM. Bring your family and wear your Spirit Wear. Click here for more information and to register.

Don't forget your hot lunch container.After-School Enrichment Classes- Alumni parent is looking to bring the first public library to the Democratic Republic of Congo, and is asking for book donations.
- Echo Horizon is accepting new or gently used books of any subject, age range, or language. In addition, students have the opportunity to donate a copy of their favorite book with a note tucked inside telling why the book is special to them.
- There are two boxes in the front foyer of school to place the donated books.
- The shelves of the new library will be lined with the books and good wishes of the Echo Horizon School community
