Dear Parents,
Here are some organizations and websites that I think will be helpful in engaging your children as eager, lifelong readers. Enjoy the pleasure of reading to and with your children each and every day! And please feel free to contact me with comments and/or suggestions. Consider these words by French author Georges Perros, "When someone reads aloud, they raise you to the level of the book. They give you reading as a gift."
     Organizations (with great websites)
Association for Library Service to Children (www.ala.org/alsc)

    National Science Teachers Association (www.nsta.org)
This website, primarily directed at K-12 grade teachers, maintains an annual list of outstanding science books for students (www.nsta.org/publications/ostb/). As such, it is a terrific resource for parents and students as well.
    Reading is Fundamental (www.rif.org)
I've shared this one in the past. This nonprofit organization is devoted to literacy and dedicated to putting books in the hands of all children. There are links to book lists, articles and activities.
