This is Sommer Denison’s third year at Echo Horizon, and she could not be more excited to join the Leadership Team! She began her journey at Echo as a 1st-grade DHH teacher before becoming the full-time second-grade teacher, where she spent the past two years. Sommer attended Swarthmore College, where she played on the women's soccer team and majored in Psychology and Economics. After graduating, she earned her master’s degree in Education from Loyola Marymount University, along with her bilingual teaching credential. Before joining Echo Horizon, Ms. Denison taught kindergarten for three years at a bilingual elementary and middle school in San Jose, CA. She also served as a course lead, guiding a network of 10 to 20 teachers in monthly professional development sessions. Additionally, she worked as an instructional coach, mentoring first and second-year teachers through one-on-one meetings, observations, and debriefs. She has experience working in kindergarten, third, fourth, and sixth grade classrooms. Outside of the classroom, she loves snowboarding, biking, surfing, hiking, running, and spending time with her family and friends. Fun facts about Ms. Denison: she has a twin sister, and her favorite ice cream shop is Salt and Straw.
