Collaborative Grade Level Auction Art
Every scholar uses a variety of artistic techniques, as well as an array of mediums, throughout their years at Echo Horizon School. This year, each class collaborated to create these beautiful pieces for our auction.
This collection celebrates individuality, creativity, units of study, and mastery of skill. These pieces will be auctioned live at the Spring Affaire, Saturday, May 21st.
Special thanks to Visual Arts Teacher Kristen Reyna and Maker/ STEAM Coordinator Sam Patterson for your dedication in supporting our artistic scholars on these masterpieces.

The Heart of Kindergarten
Kindergarten students discussed what the image of a heart represents and learned how to cut a symmetrical heart out of paper to create a stencil. They rolled and pressed ceramic clay, experimenting with various tools to press lines and shapes into the clay pieces to create patterns and texture. Once they were happy with the surface of their clay, they used their original heart stencil to cut out a heart.

Something’s Fishy with First grade
First graders learned how to create mono-prints by applying paint colors to an inking plate, pressing paper onto the block, and transferring their design onto paper. They looked at photos of fish and noticed the many different patterns and shapes that make up fish scales, fins, gills, and eyes. They drew their original fish on top of their printed papers.

Second Grade Weaving it all Together
Second graders learned how to make a loom and practiced interlacing yarn using the over/under weaving technique. They became so confident, engaged, and Zen while weaving that they asked for more. Realizing anything could be a loom, we turned jewelry boxes into mini looms, and the second graders quickly created mini weavings experimenting with different colors, textures, patterns, and designs.

The Sunny Side of Third Grade
Third-grade students looked at the countless ways different cultures and artists have depicted the sun over thousands of years. They explored the concept of radial balance and designed an original. Inspired by sun art from around the world, they each created a clay sun using a slab of clay as the base and clay coils for the rays. (There are two pieces in this series)
