• Liza DeWitt joined the Echo Horizon community in 2020. She began working in education in 2013 after earning her BA in Ethnomusicology at Bates College in Maine as well as her California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Antioch University in 2017. Ms. DeWitt returned to her home city of Los Angeles to work as a City Year corps member at Stevenson Middle School in Boyle Heights. She then went on to Gabriella Charter School in Echo Park for five years as a special education instructional aide, Kindergarten long-term substitute, and third-grade teacher. Most recently, she completed her master’s degree in Learning and Teaching at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. 

     

    Ms. DeWitt is energized by her Echo Horizon colleagues’ passion, knowledge, and investment in elementary education, as well as the school’s “best of both worlds” philosophy. She enjoys nurturing students’ growth and curiosity. Outside of teaching, Ms. DeWitt loves to dance, do yoga, hike, sing, and listen to music.
