The Bright Beginnings of Early Elementary

Pre-K and Kindergarten

Our Philosophy

At Echo Horizon School, the Early Education program features our Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms and programming tailored to children ages 4 - 7. Our young scholars are introduced to the Echo Horizon School Best of Both Worlds educational philosophy through our developmentally appropriate practices, our focus on strong foundational skills, our commitment to purposeful play and our multi-sensory approach to learning.

Our Goals

  • To ensure each child is an important, unique, and capable learner. We structure experiences that offer inquiry, independence, collaboration, and problem-solving across disciplines and styles of learning.

  • To approach the Echo Horizon School Best of Both Worlds educational philosophy through the lens of early childhood development. Our Pre-K and Kindergarten teachers have the training, experience, and knowledge to support children between the ages of 4 - 7. Our approach to early learning instruction in literacy, math, science and social studies utilizes playful and multi-sensory strategies to meet each child’s developmental need and to instill a love of learning from a young age.

  • To honor the need for exploration and discovery through purposeful play. Play is the important work of students during their early education years. Their curiosities are celebrated as they are encouraged to dive deep through experiential and intentional activities, lessons and units.

  • To embrace the journey of emotional navigation. We build curated environments that support the ever-changing development of a young child’s communication skills, relationship skills, emotional capacity, and sensory systems.

  • To cultivate partnerships. We believe that compassionate, informed and ongoing communication can bring the best outcomes for all of the people in our community.

Learning Environment

Our early childhood spaces are designed with young learners in mind—places that spark curiosity, support independence, and make school feel joyful. The dedicated yard and outdoor eating area include a learning pond, garden, and pergola, giving students daily opportunities to explore and connect. Inside, dramatic play areas, age-appropriate learning centers, and early education friendly restrooms create a comfortable, developmentally supportive environment for children ages 4–7.

We are just so thrilled with Echo Horizon. We were blown away immediately upon visiting, then had high expectations, and now have had those expectations exceeded. I went to an independent school and know many of them and there truly isn’t a school in the country I’d rather send my children to than Echo. We are so thankful it exists!
