Want a great way to remember the things we've been studying about regarding earth day and plants?
The songs were written by Mr. and Mrs. Tremblay The second graders rehearsed the songs and choreographed motions to go with them. Older students then videotaped the second graders performing the songs. They then transferred the video to an iMac DV and the songs were edited and captioned using iMovie. The captioned movie was played for the school at an Earth Day assembly. The captions allowed other students to sing along.

(sung to the tune of Livin’ la Vida Loca)
Reduce, reuse, recycle
We gotta keep the earth real clean now.
Use both sides of the paper
We gotta keep the earth real clean now.
We put trash in its place
We gotta keep the earth real clean now.
We gotta keep the earth real clean now.
Ya gotta keep the earth real clean now.
Chlorophyll
(sung to the tune of The Flintstones)
Chlorophyll
is the substance
that helps the trees and plants stay green.
It’s made
from the sunshine
and it gives the plants food energy.
We need plants to breathe our fresh, clean air.
Chlorophyll is the stuff-extraordinaire.
Chlorophyll
is the substance
that helps the trees and plants stay green.
Earth Day
(sung to the tune of The Brady Bunch)
Here’s a story
about Earth Day
It started over 20 years ago
Because the earth was badly hurting.
It needed plants to grow.
“Til the one day when some people finally realized
That everyone needed to do their share
We all can be responsible,
And show our planet we care.
We really care.
We really care.
So, we all must show our planet that we care.
